Network Marketing Success | Accountability?

I was talking to a friend yesterday who had been searching for Network Marketing Success.

He was telling me how he had been struggling in MLM and recalled a conversation he had had with his Upline, when asking for some assistance.

This friend had been discouraged because the only “assistance” he was able to receive from his Upline was they would provide “accountability” for him.

Meaning, send a list of goals, and they would call him on a daily basis to see how he’d done that day in accomplishing them.

This, of course, wasn’t what he was looking for.

All he could imagine was his Upline calling and harassing him on a daily basis. Asking “why he wasn’t doing more, spoken to more people, etc.”

His Upline obviously didn’t get it.

This wonderful man was not looking for verbal beatings, he was looking for answers. He wanted to know why his business wasn’t growing the way he was told it would.

He had made his list of friends and family, talked to hundred’s of people, sold, sold, sold, until people ran from him.

His business still had nothing to show for it!

He was understandably frustrated.

The best “help” for Network Marketing Success Upline could offer was “I’ll hold you accountable”.

How sad!

What he needed were more skills and a true system for talking to people who were interested in what he had.

Luckily he’s found that now!

MLM Network Marketing Training | How to Talk to a “Yellow” Personality

In previous MLM Network Marketing training topics I’ve written about identifying different color personalities.

It’s important to know how to identify the different personality colors so you know how to talk to them in a way which makes the other person feels comfortable.

If the person you are talking to feels comfortable, you will quickly be able to build the know, like and trust foundation.

This is so important to building relationships in our business and life!

MLM Network Marketing Training, Step 1 - Identifying a Yellow Personality

The yellow is a nurturer, open and indirect.

If you ask this person a question they will answer you in a warm, friendly manner, but they will only answer the question you’ve asked then stop, they will not expound.

They are the best listeners, and easy to get along with, everyone has kind words to say about them.

They are team players, supportive and nurturing. They are wonderful to have as part of your team or organization.

Yellows have built large organizations when they finally get the belief that they can do it.

MLM Network Marketing Training, Step 2 – How to bring a Yellow into your Business

When you’re talking business with a Yellow, don’t talk about the money.

Yup you read me right!

If you talk about money, money, money you’ll turn a yellow completely off.

The most critical thing to do with a Yellow is build a relationship. Don’t even mention a company name, product or how much they can make!

Focus on building the relationship, don’t brag about how many cars, houses or boats your upline has. Don’t talk about all the money they are making.

This is the kiss of death when talking to a Yellow.

Talk about your family, your pets, the charitable works you do or the charitable donations you make.

The Yellow needs to know you’re a caring person, not money hungry!

That’s how you make points with a Yellow!

Maybe after reading this you’ll be able to think back to the way you’ve approached some of the yellows you know and, now, you can understand why they were polite, but then avoided you.

This MLM Network Marketing Training is very different than the information/techniques we usually receive from our uplines.

Network Marketing Tip | Duplication

When people search the internet looking for network marketing tips, one of the biggest searches done is for and network marketing tips on duplication.

Why? Well, to have success in network marketing, there must be duplication. After all, the way to build big in network marketing is to have a large group of people doing a few simple things over a long period of time. But sometimes, that's easier said than done!

What makes a system duplicatable? Now, let me just get one thing out in the open. When I'm talking about systems, I'm not talking about making a list of your friends and family, getting 100 no's , talking to the people you knew in kindergarten, etc. In my opinion, that's not a system. That's sending someone out to slaughter!

A system is an actual step by step plan that anybody, of any personality color, can plug into and have success.

Systems are what's duplicatable in Network Marketing.

So what does a system look like?

1. It has to be comfortable, anyone can do it!

People have to be true to themselves and who they are, if what they are building a business in a way that's not comfortable for them, they won't do it for very long. Hence, no duplication.

2. Upline mentoring, coaching and support.

An upline should have the skills and be willing and ready to teach the skills necessary to build a network marketing business. Too often I've seen "the blind leading the blind."

3. A system for personal development.

Network Marketing is as much about personal development as it is about marketing. Mainly because you are the product! People join people who they believe can help them get what they want, so it's very important you know where you're going and believe in yourself.

After all, if you don't believe in you, who will?


These are just a couple of network marketing tips and what to look for in a duplicatable system. Remember, if you don't have duplication in Network Marketing, you're just doing another job!

MLM Success | The Terror Barrier

Fear is a common thread holding people back in their MLM Network Marketing Success. The following is a great story by Bob Proctor recalling his first experience in hitting the Terror Barrier. Maybe you can recall the first time you hit yours, it could be your first step in overcoming your MLM fears!

The Terror Barrier

The first ten years of my stay here on Planet Earth were spent in Owen Sound, Ontario. I can vividly remember the hot summer day I was taken by an older member of my family to Harrison Park where there was a fine swimming pool. The older kids were going up the ladder and jumping or diving off the high diving board. They were having a great time. Wanting to be accepted by the older kids, I too went up the ladder, reluctantly, but I climbed it.

I will never forget the terror that gripped my mind and body when I looked down. Their coaxing did absolutely no good. There was no way I was going off that board. I climbed back down the ladder.

That was the first time in my life that I can recall coming up against the Terror Barrier. I not only lost out on the excitement and thrill that would have been gained by jumping. I lost a little self-respect also.

If you think hard enough, you will recall the first time you came face to face with the Terror Barrier. You either stepped through it to freedom or back into bondage, imprisoned by your own fears.

I continued to step back from anything I truly feared until I was twenty-six years of age. Then with the encouragement of a caring person, I said "no more" and I have been free ever since.

The Terror Barrier comes up in front of us every time we attempt to make a major move in life, into an area we have never traveled before.

I have sold businesses in Canada, the U.S.A. and England for years and I could not even guess at the number of times I have sat with men and women who come right up to that barrier wanting to go ahead but not being able to. These were people who could have succeeded and wanted to, but didn't.

Is that Terror Barrier holding you or your business back? Do what I did and crash through. The compensation is incredible.

MLM Training | What's your New Year's Resolution?

It's the New Year again and you want to take your MLM to the Next Level. So, what's your MLM New Year's Resolution?

Is it to hit the phones harder? Talk to more people about your business? Or, are you looking for a $ figure? Do you want to finally start making money in Network Marketing?

Drum Roll Please.....

Would you like to know what mine is? OK. Here it goes.......I don't have one.

Yes, you read that right. I don't have one. Why? I don't believe in them. Not for anything in my life.

I Hate Feeling Bad!

Here's the reason. They don't work. And, the added benefit is, they make you feel terrible about yourself, because now you've just added another thing to the big pile of stuff you've "failed" at.
Yuck! Who needs that? Not me, so I don't do them.

My advice to anyone who wants to be successful at MLM Network Marketing at this time of year is to just refocus on what's been working for you in growing your business.

Was Christmas Crazy?

Let's face it, the past month has been CRAZY with all the holiday stuff going on. You probably already feel a little guilty because you haven't been able to put the attention to your business you would have liked to. Now's not the time to add to those guilty feelings with resolutions that will make you feel worse.

Instead, use this time to refocus. Recommit. Learn some new skills so you can talk to people without feeling so uncomfortable. Take positive action steps that will move you towards a goal and make you feel good.

Resolutions tend to be goals with no plan behind them leaving you feeling terrible.

Learn A New Skill!

Taking positive action steps is something you can, and should, be doing throughout the year, not just at New Years. Which is the reason I don't make New Year's Resolutions.

Changes and improvement should be done throughout the year in your MLM when you see fit, not just at the beginning of the year.

Network Marketing Success Tip | Branding 101

In today's Network Marketing Success Tip we will be discussing Branding. According to AllAboutBranding.com branding is the direct and indirect activities undertaken by a company (person) to imprint and influence a 'desired reputation' upon its audience.

You may be thinking, what does this have to do with me? Most people in Network Marketing really go off track here. They think their job is to sell thier product/services or to recruit business builders. But let's look at big picture.

Madonna as a Network Marketer?

We'll take Madonna as an example. Whether you love her or hate her she is a marvelous case study in branding. Those of us interested in Network Marketing Success could learn lots from her in the way she's branded herself.

Madonna has a great voice, so do lots of other people.

We have a great product/network Marketing Opportunity, so do lots of other people.

Madonna looks great, so do lots of others.

Our opportunity/products really can help lots of people, so can many other opportunities and products.

By making a name for herself, Madonna has been able to consistently stay in the forefront of her field. How many people have done that in Network Marketing? Not Many, I can think of one, maybe two.

But we can do this by branding ourselves and by doing so we:

1. Establish ourselves as an expert
2. Build a solid reputation within our industy (which is, unfortunately, lacking)
3. Increase your notoriaty and image


By branding ourselves, we now have people who seek us out for our advice and expertise. So often in Network Marketing we are taught to recruit, recruit, recruit, or sell, sell, sell. This puts us at a disadvantage where we have to continually fill the funnel and "get" people to join us.

When we take the time to brand ourselves, people start seeking us out because they know we have soemthing of value. We can teach them how to do this business and be successful.

So next time you are wondering how you can make network Marketing a little easier, think of Madonna. Maybe this Network Marketing Success Tip will help you remember branding yourself is the way to go!

Network Marketing | Success Tip from "Big Al"

Here's a Great Network Marketing Success Tip from Tom "Big Al" Schreiter!

Which would you want more in your network marketing career?

A. Education.
B. Money.

The reality is: bonus checks come and go. If you are lucky
and sponsor a superstar, every night you will stay awake
worrying if the company will survive, if your superstar
will stay loyal, etc.

You will worry because you know you were lucky and that
it will be difficult to be that lucky again.

However, if you have the education on how to build a
business, you won't have this stress in your life. You know
that you have the skills to duplicate your success no matter
what happens with your present company, your downline,
the economy, etc.

You can always successfully start all over again and rebuild
your bonus check.

So if you're lucky, and would like to get a good night's
sleep, take the time to learn the skills on how to be a
successful network marketer.

Network Marketing Business | Would You Join This Company?

I was talking to a lady the other day who told me she was looking into starting her own Network Marketing company.
Nothing new here, happens everyday. Someone has a product and the best way to get it to market is through Network Marketing.

I asked her what her product was. She proceeded to tell me it was a device that you attach to your car's engine that converts tap water into a hydrogen fuel. "It saves gas and lowers emissions, it's the most incredible thing ever invented."

A Metoo Product

"Not another gas thing", I thought, but we continued.

I asked her, "Is this a one time MLM product sale? If it is, how are people going to create a residual income? The first item to look for in a Network Marketing Company are products that are consumable, where's the consumable part of that?"

She answered, "Yeah, I'm still trying to figure that out. But it's really not about the money, we are saving Mother Earth. It's all about the Planet."

Red Flag #1

"OK", I thought, "Just what people want to do in MLM, not make money." MLM Red Flag #1.

"I'm curious", I asked, "Don't you need a special convertor for the tap water? I mean you can't just put tap water into a hydrogen cell." (The only reason I knew this by the way, is it just so happened my husband, son and I were talking about Honda and the other big car companies coming out with hydrogen type engines in the near future.)

Red Flag #2

"Oh, no", she replied, "This inventor has made it so you can use actual tap water, nothing special is needed. It's the most incredible thing since the combustible engine!" OK, MLM Red Flag #2.

The REALLY, REALLY BIG Red Flag!

The conversation goes on and I ask her about the EPA. "Surely you've gotten all the testing you need to do to get the claims you making past the EPA." I ask.

There is dead silence on the other end. Uh oh, I'm thinking. So I continue, "You do know that you can't just put a product out there and make a whole bunch of claims before you pass all of the EPA testing.....right? I mean, the government will come and shut you down in a NY minute if you do that. It has happened to a few companies within the past 6 months."

I could hear her catching her breath, "No," she said, "I didn't know that. You mean we can't just set up the company and start offering the product?"

"Well, I guess you could, but you won't last very long."

"Wow, I guess I'd better start looking into that."

I agreed and answered some more questions.

The Most Important Item in Network Marketing

When we got off the phone I kept thinking about everyone in Network Marketing who has joined a company that doesn't have Pillar #1 in place.....Company Management with MLM Experience and Integrity.

If you don't have that, you are already dead before you start.

You are putting your future into the hands of people who either don't know how to run a Network Marketing company so it gets run into the ground. Or, people who know how to take all of your money and leave you high and dry. Either way it has a bad ending.

MLM Success Tips | OUCH! That's Gotta Hurt!

MLM Joke of the Day:

A Yankee lawyer went duck hunting in eastern North Carolina. He shot and dropped a bird, but it fell into a farmer's field on the other side of a fence. As the lawyer climbed over the fence, an elderly gentleman asked him what he was doing. The lawyer responded, "I shot a duck and it fell in this field, I'm going into retrieve it."

The old farmer replied. "This is my property, and you are not coming over here."

The indignant lawyer said, "I am one of the best trial attorneys in the U.S. and, if you don't let me get that duck, I'll sue you and take everything!

The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we do things here in North Carolina. We settle small disagreements like this with the NC Three-Kick Rule."

The lawyer asked, "What is the NC three-Kick Rule?"

The Farmer replied. "Well, first I kick you three times and then you kick me three times, and so on, back and forth, until someone gives up."

The Yankee attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old southerner. He agreed to abide by the local custom.

The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to the city feller. His first kick planted the toe of his heavy work boot into the Yankee lawyer's groin and dropped him to his knees. His second kick nearly wiped the man's nose off his face. The barrister was flat on his belly when the farmer's third kick to a kidney nearly caused him to give up.

The Yankee lawyer summoned every bit of his will and managed to get to his feet and said, "Okay, you old redneck southerner, now it's my turn."

The old North Carolina farmer smiled and said, "Naw, I give up. You can have the duck."

Guess the moral to this story is know the rules before you start playing the game!!!

That means if you're in any MLM, or even thinking about getting into a MLM, read your Policy and Procedures!

Network Marketing Training | Are Relatives Good Business Partners?

Wow! Is that what you typically hear from your upline and company? Not many people do when they enter into the Network Marketing arena.

Usually newbies and others are told, friends and family are their best source for obtaining new business partners. I have not found that to be the case.

Most people I coach tell me that their friends and family either:

1. Don't have the desire to change what they are doing in life
2. Don't believe they, meaning the person in Network Marketing, can do it and want to see them successful first
3. Or, they don't know enough people to approach about the business


I'm also asked why some people in MLM can be so successful while they are struggling.

Have you learned your Colors?

The majority of those who are "successful" in Network Marketing are the Red Personality types. They are the centers of influence in the community. They typically have a following of people who look up to them and will follow their every move.

The Reds, have no problem telling people what to do or how to do it and how much money they should spend while doing it. If you are around a red, you'll hear them say things and think to yourself, "I could never do that!"

A Network Marketing Red Test

For example, I have a friend, very red, not in Network Marketing, who actually told another friend who couldn't afford to have extra photo prints made, to charge her family for extra picture prints of photos of her kids!

Both myself and my friend were astonished, we aren't reds, but my Red friend saw nothing wrong with it! Could you do that?

My point is, red personalities can do the things we are taught to do in Network Maketing, i.e., talk to friends and family, make 100 names list, get 100 no's, talk to everyone within 3 feet. Most of all, they can be successful at it.

But those of us who are not red....85%......can't do it for very long. It doesn't feel right, and there's nothing wrong with that. We are meant to be who we are, not someone else.

The first rule of success is Don't Change Who You Are. Anyone who is successful will tell you that.

Find or develop a system that will work for you as you, not as someone tells you you have to become in order for success! Make sense?
